6 Electrical Upgrades to Consider for 2022

2022 can be the year your house gets a technology upgrade! This list will help you figure out what your house might be missing and hopefully fill the gap between your house and the future.

1. Electrical Panel

It can be difficult for your panel to try and keep up with all the new technology that keeps getting added to circuits. So much more electricity is being pulled to power all of our devices that it may mess up your panel by causing breakers to repeatedly flip. If your panel is older, it most likely cannot handle all of your security cameras, video doorbells, smart thermostats, and all of the TVs and computers that your house has to offer. This is just the first step to making your home a smart home!

2. Wiring

Wiring is the next big step to help upgrade your home, as it will not pose a hazard for anyone or any devices. It's best to get this done at the same time or around the same time as a panel change out, as a new panel will not fix faulty wiring. This also helps if you want to hard-wire your video doorbell, instead of charging the battery every two weeks or if you want your thermostat to be in the proper place. This will really put the finishing touch on that new panel!

3. Panel Surge Protector

A panel surge protector is totally worth it in the long run, even though it may cost a little bit more. These get installed next to your electrical panel and protect your house from any spikes in electricity that could potentially ruin some of your devices, so make sure you protect those fancy new gadgets!

4. Smart Home Gadgets

Everything nowadays is becoming digital, so get with the crowd! Some great gadgets you should consider getting is:

  • Smart thermostat

  • Video doorbell

  • Smart kitchen appliances

  • Smart lights

  • Smart blinds

  • Automatic robot vacuum

Those are just to name a few of the technologies you could have in your home. If you need help installing them, just call our team!

5. LED Lights

LED lights are not only bill friendly, but they add a nice touch to your space. Whether it's an LED strip under your cabinets, or just some nice LED can-lights to illuminate your kitchen, they are totally worth it! These will most likely not require a panel upgrade because they are very low energy, so this is a great and easy upgrade to make to your home. LEDs also come in so many varieties that you can easily find something to match your home.

6. Dimmer Switches

These are a great addition to any room, as they can set the mood anytime. Although some lights are not compatible with dimmer switches, it's very easy to find cheap lights that are (AKA LEDs). These may not be the most futuristic thing to add to a house, but they are definitely a game changer!
