How to Create a Functional Home Office

Many people are making the switch to work from home, but some don't have the dedicated space for it. If you are in this situation, here are some tips and tricks to make the most functional home office!

What do I Need?

Here is a simple list of supplies you need to create a functional home office:

  • Table-

Pick a size that will fit your needs. Are you a compact worker who works well with a small desk, or do you need the room of a larger desk?

  • Office Chair-

This will make or break your home office experience. Pick a quality office chair that fits your needs. You will be sitting in this chair for hours a day, so the one you pick matters.

  • Computer/laptop-

Many companies supply you with a personal computer, but if they don't, make sure to do your research on what device will provide you with what you need.

  • Cork Board/whiteboard-

Having a cork board/magnetic white board is a great tool for anyone who has a home office. It is a great reminder for tasks and look great!

  • Storage

You can go many different directions with storage. A great home office is very minimalistic and clean, so storage is a must. You can find many beautiful, and affordable storage solutions at IKEA or Target!

  • Misc Office Supplies

You can find many great, quintessential office supplies at stores such as Staples, Target, or Walmart. Your home office experience really depends on the quality of your supplies.

Some Questions to Answer when Creating your Personal Office Checklist:

Although our list is pretty broad, it doesn't always apply to everyone, so here are some questions to ask yourself when creating your personal office checklist:

  1. What are my printing needs?

  2. Do I need storage solutions for physical files?

  3. Do I need any space for books?

  4. How much desk space do I need?

  5. How important are decorations?

All in all, your office space matters, so putting a lot of thought into it will make the biggest difference! Call SHEWORKS if you need a hand :)
